The Hermesvilla in the Lainzer Tiergarten in Vienna was built between 1882 and 1886 by Emperor Franz Joseph as a gift for Empress Elisabeth („Sisi“) and is therefore also called the „Palace of Dreams.“ Today, it houses a museum with original furniture, personal items of the imperial couple, and fascinating insights into their private life. A visit combines history, culture, and nature in one of Vienna's most beautiful green spaces, away from the bustling inner-city tourism.
Our insider tip: Order a picnic basket and unwind on the meadows of the Lainzer Tiergarten.
