Markets Vienna – experience authentic Vienna

Märkte in Wien

What makes Vienna so special? No, it's not just St. Stephen's Cathedral or Schönbrunn Palace. Away from the beaten track and tourist hotspots, the city offers much more. An important part of the cityscape, for example, are the markets in Vienna, which are definitely worth a visit. At the market in Vienna you can not only buy high-quality fresh food, it is also suitable for strolling around and lingering. We have selected some hidden, special jewels for you and present you our insider tips in Vienna here.

Victor Adler Market – Vienna’s insider tip in the 10th district

Favoriten | open Mon-Wed & Fri 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thu 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat 6 a.m. to 6 p.m

Located between Favoritenstrasse and Senefeldergasse, the Victor-Adler-Markt is in the heart of the 10th district. This is one of the most unconventional markets in Vienna with a distinctive atmosphere. Among connoisseurs it is also called "Platzl" and at the stands the Wiener Schmäh runs like nowhere else. The louder the vendors advertise their wares, the more authentic the market - so the Victor-Adler-Markt cannot be more original. It is also one of the most traditional markets in Vienna with a history of almost 150 years since it was founded in 1877.

Liesinger Markt – experience Vienna in a new way

Liesinger Platz | open Fri 8 a.m. to 5 p.m

The fresh food market in Liesing is a real insider tip in Vienna that not even all of the long-established people know about. Every Friday, the Liesinger Platz is transformed into a colorful marketplace with around 15 stalls. You will find fresh food, organic products and culinary specialties here. The market has only existed since 2005, but it hides a history full of commitment from the stallholders. The group has founded an association to create and run this market in Vienna itself.

Our tip is to visit the annual market festival at Liesinger Platz - a festival with tradition.
