With around 170 market stalls and 948 meters, the market is the longest street market in Europe. But that's not all - it is also the largest, cheapest and at the same time most versatile street detail market Vienna and is also known as the "Orient around the corner" due to its colorful and multicultural ambience. From cafés, bars and Middle Eastern cuisine to regional food, souvenirs and designer products, this Vienna attraction offers a wide range of products.

© @Peter Gugerell, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Our tip: For those looking for an even more exclusive attraction in the form of a market, we recommend the indoor market "Meiselmarkt" in the 15th district. It is the only market in Vienna that is located entirely in one building. The offer of the Meiselmarkts ranges from fruit and vegetables to baked goods, meat, fish and cosmetics.

Insider tips in Vienna: Prater can also be different

The Bohemian Prater is located in Laaer Wald, in the 10th district, and is definitely one of the highlights for us in terms of Top sights in Vienna times different.

The amusement park is less well-known among tourists and is therefore suitable for all those who want to experience the city off the beaten track. This attraction in Vienna is ideal for a weekend trip with the family or simply to get away from it all for a while. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city. In addition to complete deceleration, you will also find a children's autodrome, a giant slide and the oldest carousel in Europe.

© @János Korom Dr. from Vienna, Austria, CC BY-SA 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Our tip: Right next to the Werklmann, at a small inconspicuous stall, you will find the best langos in Vienna. If you want to get your culinary money's worth, you should definitely try this.

An insider tip in Vienna where you wouldn't expect it

How could it be otherwise, Austria's landmark is of course one of the hotspots for your sightseeing in Vienna. But what is different here and why should St. Stephen's Cathedral in particular be off the beaten tourist track?

Quite simply - we have created an experience that first takes you down into the Catacombs and then up to the Attic brings. Nobody else of the many visitors goes there.

In a small, select group, you have the unique opportunity to explore Vienna's impressive sights. Far away from the crowds from a completely new perspective. For young and old alike, this tour is a real "Vienna with a difference" experience and one of Vienna's best insider tips. You can find more information and booking details here here.

A green insider tip in Vienna

A top Viennese sightseeing spot, especially in the summer months, is a city hiking trail through the beautiful vineyards with a clear view of the entire city. In total there are 12 hiking trailswhere we recommend city hiking trail 1 as the top hiking trail.

The city hiking trail 1 is eleven kilometers long and you should allow a walking time of approx. four hours to plan. The hike starts at the Nußdorf terminus of streetcar D. A big advantage: if you travel with the D-carriage you also have the opportunity to visit Vienna's top sights along the Ringstrasse.

Once in Nussdorf, the route follows Zahnradbahnstraße and Beethovengang to Wildgrubgasse. The route continues through the Wildgrube past the Heiligenstadt cemetery to the Sulzwiese.

© @Doronenko, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Once there, the route takes you up the mountain road to an absolute top attraction - the Kahlenberg. In summer, there are wonderful taverns and wine taverns along the way, which are perfect for a little refreshment in between.

Our tip: Those who Stamp card for all city hiking trails is awarded for completing the city hiking trail 1 at the Josefinenhütte (approx. 10 minutes' walk from the Kahlenberg parking lot).

An unknown place with a creepy factor

The Sankt Marx cemetery is a well-preserved Biedermeier cemetery in the 3rd district of Vienna. It was built in 1874 and is now a listed building.

Tourists rarely stray here and so this burial site is rather unknown. The Viennese sight is mainly visited by locals twice a year: for the Lilac blossomwhich has also already become an unofficial trademark, and to All Saints' Day because of cemetery romance and autumn feeling.

© @Gugerell, CC0, via Wikimedia Commons

A Special highlightThe cemetery is home to what is probably the most famous grave, that of the world-famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Unfortunately, nobody knows exactly where the grave is, because all the people who were involved in Mozart's burial took their knowledge with them to the grave. However, there is a memorial so that the fans have a place where he is most likely to be found.

Insider tips in Vienna off the beaten track

Whether you have been living in Vienna for a long time or are just visiting for a short time, these 5 sights in Vienna will undoubtedly let you into the world of Viennese specialties off the beaten track immerse yourself.
